Hellas Verona are in advanced talks with Roma for Tommaso Baldanzi, with the very real chance he could make the loan move.
The creative midfielder was a big investment for the Giallorossi in January 2024 at €11.5m plus bonuses from Empoli.
He has struggled for regular playing time, and the change of tactics under new coach Gian Piero Gasperini has not helped his situation.
Baldanzi struggling for space at Roma
According to both Sky Sport Italia and Il Tempo newspaper, there were intensive talks between the clubs and his agent today, with all parties open to the idea of a loan move.
It remains to be seen if there will also be an option to buy at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Italian is under contract with Roma until June 2028 and was also linked with Parma, Torino and Udinese over the summer.
Verona seem to be the more likely candidates for the Empoli youth academy product, who represented Italy at Under-21 level.
