‘Isak to Liverpool is ON’ – Fabrizio Romano BOMBSHELL update on RECORD transfer

Fabrizio Romano says that Alexander Isak‘s transfer to Liverpool is on and the English champions expect to complete a record move before Monday’s deadline.

There is just over 24 hours until the summer transfer window closes and the time is running down on Liverpool bringing in their top striker target of the window.

However, Romano is admant that the potentially record-breaking transfer is definitely on and that Liverpool are confident of completing the deal.

What did Romano say?

“The deal is still not done,” Romano told his Youtube channel.

“I can confirm that optimism at Liverpool remains that they will sign Isak.

“Liverpool have not activated any other options – three or four important players – who have been offered to Liverpool.

“This is because they are optimistic of finding a solution and getting Alexander Isak.

“The transfer is on but it is still not done.

“Isak has not changed his mind and wants to move to Liverpool.

“So now let’s wait for the two clubs. Let’s see if Liverpool can agree a deal with Newcastle.”

Liverpool have had one bid for the 25-year-old Sweden striker knocked back already, but are expected to make at least one more big effort to sign their dream No.9 before the end of Deadline Day.

The fee involved will almost certainly be a new British transfer record in order for the deal to be done.

Newcastle remain firm in their stance, publicly, that he is not for sale.

Newcastle are reportedly demanding as much as €172m to sell the player.

Isak asked to leave Newcastle after contract renewal talks collapsed – as the club have been unwilling until now to meet his €350,000 a week wage demands.

He has been exiled since during pre-season and not played any games for Newcastle this campaign.

The 25-year-old has been widely reported to already have an agreement in principle with Liverpool on personal terms.

Isak has emerged as one of the best strikers in European football over the past couple of seasons.

He joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for €73m in 2022.

The 25-year-old has gone on to score 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle.
