Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos joined Serie A side Como today, with the Italian club confirming his arrival on a season-long loan from Turkish Super Lig outfit Fenerbahce.

Carlos only signed for the Turkish giants in the January of this year but has struggled to make his mark as a regular starter and Fenerbahce have chosen to send the 32-year-old on loan to the shores of Lake Como for the season.

He also revealed how a conversation with head coach Cesc Fabregas convinced the Brazilian to move to Serie A, “I spoke to the manager about his vision, a very promising project that is still developing and evolving. I told him that I want to help both him and the team, and also support all the fans who dream of seeing this club become something great.”

With the arrival of the Brazilian, Como add a valuable and experienced defender to their ranks as they look to build on their strong return to Italy’s top flight last season.

The former Aston Villa centre-back has nearly 300 games across the top levels for Nantes, Sevilla and Villa, whilst also being a part of the Brazil side that won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
