‘Agreement drawing closer’ after Chelsea bid for €100m wonderkid

Juventus are closing in on an agreement to extend Kenan Yildiz‘s contract after fending off summer interest from Chelsea, according to Italian media.

The Bianconeri are looking to tie the Turkish wonderkid down to what would be his fourth contract since joining the club in 2022. Such has been Yildiz’s rise that he is set to become the face of a new-look Juventus.

Already last year, Yildiz was given improved terms, as well as Alessandro Del Piero’s famous No.10 shirt, to show him his importance to the side and to convince him to stay amid widespread Premier League interest.

This interest only intensified over the course of the previous season, and Chelsea, in particular, were at the front of the queue. The Blues reportedly began exploring a move as early as the spring and then put their money where their mouth is with a €70 million bid in the summer.

However, Juventus offered a swift response: Yildiz is not and will not be for sale anytime soon. On the contrary, it looks increasingly inevitable that he will again extend his contract.

It has been known for several weeks that Juventus are planning to hand Yildiz another bumper deal, which would reportedly increase his annual net salary to €5m and tie him to the club until 2030.

According to Calciomercato, an agreement on terms is now ‘drawing closer,’ with Yildiz set to become the ‘poster boy’ of Juventus for the foreseeable future.

Yilidiz is ‘practically unsellable’ as far as new sporting director Damien Comolli is concerned. If – or rather when – the 20-year-old puts pen to paper on his new contract, Chelsea’s chances of signing him will dwindle rapidly as it would require north of €100m to prise him away from Turin.

It has been claimed that the Blues could return for him in 2026, but a fresh deal would nip that endeavour in the bud, or at least that is what Juventus hope.
