Erling Haaland has started the 2025/26 season in frankly ridiculous form.

The Norwegian superstar is already into double figures for the season, hitting 11 goals in six matches for club and country.

He has seven goals in his last two games alone after scoring five times for Norway in the 11-1 World Cup qualifying thrashing of Moldova last Tuesday, before smashing in a double in the Manchester Derby.

Haaland’s brace in Man City’s 3-0 win over Man Utd at the Etihad means that the striker is now two goals clear in the 2025/26 Premier League Golden Boot race.

His incredible start to the season has, according to El Nacional, made Barcelona president Joan Laporta even more determined to sign Haaland.

Indeed, Laporta is described in the report as being obsessed with the Man City goal machine and is confident of bringing him to Barcelona sooner rather than later.

2025/26 Premier League top scorers

Erling Haaland is first in the ranking of Premier League top scorers for the 2025/26 season with five goals so far from four games.

He has opened up a lead already from Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres, who both have three goals.

Reigning champion Mo Salah is on two goals after his injury time penalty for Liverpool saw off Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor.

But it is Haaland who looks like the man to beat this season. He is back to his very best and will be hoping to add to his tally on Thursday in the Champions League when Man City host Napoli.

Premier League Golden Boot: Previous Winners

Thierry Henry shares the record for the most Premier League Golden Boot wins, having been named the top scorer in the competition on four occasions for Arsenal.

Following his success last season, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is now level with Henry on four Golden Boot wins.

Two of Salah’s top scorer awards were shared, while his triumphs in 2017/18 and 2024/25 (his first and most recent respectively) were outright successes.

The France and Egypt greats are two of only four players who have scored the most goals in the EPL across three or more seasons.

Alan Shearer won the Golden Boot three times, once with Newcastle and twice with Blackburn Rovers, while Harry Kane’s win in 2020/21 was also his third, all of them coming with Tottenham.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez are two of the biggest names to have won the award, scoring 31 goals in 2007/08 and 2013/14 respectively.

It is Liverpool who have had the most Premier League Golden Boot winners as a team with eight, with Salah’s triumph in topping the list of 2024/25 top scorers extending their advantage.

Arsenal are two behind on six wins as a team, while Man Utd and Tottenham have had five winners.

Chelsea are on four, with Man City level with them after Haaland gave the club a fourth win by finishing first in the list of 2023/24 Premier League top scorers.

The Premier League began from the 1992/93 season. Prior to that, Ian Wright was the last player to be the highest goalscorer in England when it was the old First Division.

Gary Lineker and Alan Smith were also winners in the 1990s before the league was rebranded.
