17-year-old Lennart Karl has forced his way into Bayern Munich’s first team and has already started two games this season.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany spoke about the expectations he has for the young attacking midfielder.

“Last season he still played for the U17s and U19s. That shows that we rely on our talents and give them trust. For Lenny, there is absolutely no pressure from me. He should enjoy it. He also keeps having his moments, which is part of his quality,” Kompany said.

Karl played a key role in Bayern’s 4-1 win over Hoffenheim last week, setting up Harry Kane’s opener.

“At Bayern Munich, if you deliver a good cross, Harry Kane is there to put the ball in the net. That naturally helps young players to get involved,” the coach added.

“If he keeps fighting and running like he is now, even if he scores ten or fifteen more goals, that’s great. But in this development phase, we still have to take careful steps with our talents also because we believe in them very much,” Kompany continued.
