Garnacho Instagram post prompts urgent well-being check

Amad Diallo has been offered support by Manchester United after posting an image of Alejandro Garnacho on Instagram.

The Man Utd star displayed a picture of himself with the Chelsea winger following the 2-1 victory for the Red Devils at the weekend. The pair were shown in the Old Trafford tunnel having swapped shirts.

Garnacho’s exit from United was controversial, though. He was a member of Ruben Amorim’s Bomb Squad, and following a €40 million move to Chelsea, it was reported that the player was a toxic influence in the dressing room. As such, he cuts an unpopular figure among a section of the Manchester side’s fanbase.

Amad failed to read the room and was bombarded with angry Man Utd fans directing abuse in his direction in the aftermath of the photo going up. This prompted the 23-year-old to wipe his Instagram clean.

In response, The Sun reports that Manchester United offered the former Atalanta star an immediate well-being check, fearful about the mental impact that receiving so much criticism might produce.

Citing a source from within the Red Devils, it is indicated that Amad is a “resilient character” and is likely to shake off this Garnacho incident without too many long-term issues.

Are Amad and Garnacho friends?

Amad has spoken of his admiration of Garnacho in the past, notably stating before the summer that he wanted the Argentine to stay.

“Alejandro is a really good player and we need a good player in the team, so obviously I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season,” he told the media. “It’s not really a big issue for the team and everything is good now, I think.”

Garnacho and Amad also share an agency, while they are said to have become close during their time together at Man Utd.
