Timo Werner was heavily linked with a move away from RB Leipzig in the summer, but ultimately stayed, as the right move never materialised.

With the striker’s contract expiring in the summer of 2026, a move during the winter transfer window could now be on the cards.

An extension of Werner’s contract appears highly unlikely, making January Leipzig’s last chance to cash in on him.

Talks with New York Red Bulls, with whom he also negotiated over the summer, are expected to resume.

Alternatively, a move within Germany remains possible, while England, France and Spain are also reported as potential options.

Werner made his first appearance of the season as a substitute when Leipzig defeated Wolfsburg 1-0 last week.
