Christian Eriksen has made three appearances for VfL Wolfsburg since joining the Bundesliga club towards the end of the summer transfer window, but is still awaiting his first start.

Speaking to Viaplay after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Augsburg, the Danish midfielder admitted he had expected to be a regular starter at this point.

“I didn’t expect it to take this long, but it’s the coach’s decision,” Eriksen said of his current role from the bench.

“I just need to get used to everything and to the team. I was happy to get 45 minutes today and put some minutes in the bank.

“Physically, I felt good, and mentally I was fine too. But of course, it was a lousy game to be part of, now that we ended up losing.”
