Chelsea could make an approach for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck when the transfer window reopens in January, according to Football Insider.
The Blues were fancied to sign a new centre-back during the summer transfer window following a long-term knee injury for Levi Colwill.
They were linked with plenty of names including Marc Guehi, but manager Enzo Maresca said that the club would seek an internal solution.
This has not ended the speculation over a new central defender and it is claimed that they are keeping tabs on Schlotterbeck’s condition.
The German picked up a long-term knee injury earlier this year, but he recently made his comeback and has returned to the national side too.
Chelsea could assess his form and performances over the coming months and we won’t be surprised if a formal move is made this winter.
The Blues have a good working relationship with Dortmund. They sold Carney Chukwuemeka and loaned Aaron Anselmino to them this summer.
