During his press conference this afternoon, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann discused whether he will approach Manuel Neuer about a possible comeback.

“It’s not advisable to talk about all possible scenarios that could arise. In all the games since Manu retired, we haven’t had a goalkeeping problem. In football, things can always happen that require certain measures.

“As of today, that is not the case. I cannot predict what the future holds. I’m in contact with Manuel Neuer. But it’s not always just about football matches,” he explained.

Regarding their upcoming fixtures against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland, Nagelsmann kept his cards close to his chest on whether Nick Woltemade or Nico Schlotterbeck will feature.

“After an infection, we always have to wait and see. We’ll see tomorrow morning. Nick felt well in training. As of today, he could start. We have to wait tonight and then make a decision during the course of tomorrow”

“I haven’t decided yet whether he’ll [Schlotterbeck] start. That could well be the case. But I’m aware that he won’t play the full 90 minutes twice,” the 38-year-old added.
