Evangelos Marinakis is ‘one step’ away from the shock appointment of Sean Dyche as Nottingham Forest manager.
Forest are looking for a new head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou on Saturday.
Postecoglou was sacked after just 39 days in charge at Forest following the 3-0 home defeat by Chelsea in Saturday’s early Premier League match.
The ex-Tottenham manager only oversaw eight games, six of them losses and none of them victories.
Sean Dyche to replace Postecoglou?
Nicolo Schira reports on Monday morning that Sean Dyche is “one step away” from becoming the new manager of Forest.
Fabrizio Romano followed that up by confirming that Forest were closing in on the appointment of Dyche.
Romano said that talks with Roberto Mancini collapsed on Sunday, leading a clear path for Dyche.
Dyche is out of work since being sacked by Everton this year.
He previously spent 10 years at Burnley and before that he was at Watford.
Dyche has some job on his hand as the City Ground outfit are in turmoil.
Marinakis has now sacked two permanent managers within less than two months.
After the unpopular but inevitable dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo, Postecoglou became the second Forest manager dismissed this season.
The sacking was announced soon after the 3-0 loss to Chelsea that leaves Forest in the relegation zone.
Marinakis has become famous and infamous throughout his life and career in football for making big, bold and at times controversial decisions, and this would be another.
Other managers who were linked with the Forest job include Abel Ferreira from Palmeiras, Marco Silva, Rafa Benitez and Mauricio Pochettino.
Forest currently find themselves third from bottom in the Premier League with just five points from eight games.
