Bayer Leverkusen suffered a heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday, losing 2-7 at home.

After the game, Bayer 04 sporting managing director Simon Rolfes had strong words for captain Robert Andrich, who put his team in a difficult position after being sent off in the 31st minute for elbowing Desire Doue.

“Of course, you weaken your team by doing that. You have to make sure you finish games with eleven players on the pitch. No matter who you’re playing against, he needs to stop doing that,” Rolfes said, according to DPA.

The Bayer 04 boss emphasised that the team must learn from the defeat.

“The result really hurts. But I do believe the boys have always shown this that they can learn from it and grow from it, and that’s how we will approach it,” Rolfes said.

“You must never lose your head. At this level, you always have to maintain your stability and concentration,” he added.
