After congratulating Borussia Dortmund on their hard-fought 1-0 win tonight, FC Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner discussed the game in the mixed room at full-time.

“We had high hopes and are naturally disappointed. However, the way we performed today was good; we adjusted a few things.

“We gave it our all, and conceded very little. In the end, we perhaps lacked that little bit of luck to score the equalizer,” Wagner said.

The Bavarian club’s central defender Keven Schlotterbeck was equally proud of his teammates but saddened by the final score.

“I want to praise the team: We gave it our all and fought until the end. Of course, we’re still disappointed with the result, especially because of the deflected goal – a terrible scrappy goal.

“We had some good spells of possession, but unfortunately, we didn’t create enough chances. Scoring against Dortmund is very difficult because they’re extremely solid defensively.

“The whole stadium saw that we put in a very strong performance in terms of fighting spirit. We’ll continue to stick together as a team and keep going together,” the 28-year-old said.
