After a challenging start to the season for Borussia Mönchengladbach, interim coach Eugen Polanski appears to have steadied the ship.

On Saturday, he led Die Fohlen to their third consecutive win in all competitions, this time defeating local rivals 1. FC Köln 3-1.

The big question now is whether Polanski will take over the job permanently.

“We’ll talk during the international break. It looks good,” head of sport Rouven Schröder told Sky Germany when asked about the coach’s future.

The win leaves Gladbach 12th in the Bundesliga ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures.

“When you win the derby 3-1, it’s a great evening. There was real pressure on us we need to keep picking up points and take it one step at a time,” the Gladbach boss said.

“The team defended well and showed real maturity. Köln are a confident side, and we wanted to keep doubling up on them defensively. Today, the game went our way.”
