Bayern Munich dropped points for the first time this season, as they drew 2-2 against 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday.

Reflecting on the match in an interview with Sky Germany, Bayern captain Manuel Neuer admitted he could have done more to prevent Union’s opener, which came after he spilled Danilho Doekhi’s shot over the line.

“I naturally also share some blame for the first goal. The view wasn’t perfect, but I have to take responsibility. I made the wrong decision there,” Neuer said.

Bayern were coming off an exhausting Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, but Neuer dismissed fatigue as a reason for Bayern failing to secure the win

“I think we were actually quite fresh in our legs. But it’s very difficult to play against a team like this,” he explained.

He pointed out that Bayern extended their lead over second-placed RB Leipzig, who fell 3-1 to Hoffenheim.

“In the end, this is a very good point for us. We collected a point; Leipzig did not. That’s why we are now six points ahead,” Neuer said.
