Enzo Fernandez has confirmed that he will not be linking up with the Argentina national team during the international break after picking up a knee injury
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has revealed he will miss Argentina duty during the international break.
Fernandez was instrumental in the Blues’ impressive 3-0 triumph over Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, a result that temporarily lifted Chelsea to second in the table. Enzo Maresca’s men secured victory through second-half strikes from Malo Gusto, Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder featured for 83 minutes before making way for Andrey Santos, with many anticipating he would join up with Argentina’s squad during the international window.
But Chelsea’s No.5 has now revealed he won’t be linking up with his national teammates, missing out on Friday’s friendly against Angola, reports football london.

“I will not be available with Argentina,” Fernandez explained following Chelsea’s victory over Wolves. “I was just talking to the medical team because I had a problem with my knee in the last 4 months.
“I came with a bone edema that got worse in the last weeks and months because we played a lot of games.
“I think the most important thing is coming to the end of the season and I think it’s good to make this decision together. Always respecting the doctors and everything.”
After the victory over Wolves, Maresca provided an update on Fernandez’s fitness, with the Chelsea head coach revealing that the Argentina international asked to be substituted due to a knee issue.
“Joao Pedro, Neto and Enzo, they asked for a change,” Maresca informed reporters on Saturday night. “Because Pedro had a problem with his groin. And Enzo had a problem with his knee. So we need to see how they are now.”
Chelsea now face an anxious wait to find out if Fernandez will be fit when the Premier League resumes later this month.
The Blues’ next match is against Burnley on November 22, which will then be followed by games against Barcelona and Arsenal in the Champions League and Premier League, respectively.
