Out of contract in the summer of 2026, Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can looks set to be offered a new contract by the club.

According to Sport Bild, Can’s current deal includes a clause that could automatically extend his contract by a further year. However, as this clause is linked to playing time, the 31-year-old may not trigger it after just returning from a long injury spell.

If the clause does not apply, Dortmund are reportedly prepared to offer Can a one-year extension, as he remains highly valued in both the dressing room and by the club’s management.

The report also confirms a recent report from Sky Germany that Julian Brandt has been offered a new contract, claiming that the attacking midfielder has been presented with a one-year extension to his deal, which expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan are expected to leave as free agents when their contracts expire in the summer.

Additionally, the report denies rumours that Borussia Dortmund are considering bringing Jadon Sancho back from Manchester United.
