Watch as Italy wasted scoring opportunities until finally breaking Moldova down with Gianluca Mancini and Francesco Pio Esposito headers.
The Azzurri notched up their sixth consecutive victory in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, but it was tougher than expected in Chisinau on Thursday evening.
Federico Dimarco put in a cross from the left for the Mancini diving header, the second consecutive goal for the Nazionale from the Roma defender.
A few minutes later, 20-year-old Inter centre-forward Pio Esposito doubled the Nazionale’s lead with his own header, rising to meet a cross from substitute Matteo Politano.
