Serie A club Cagliari has announced new investment from American-based investor group Praxis Capital Management, but Tommaso Giulini will retain full control.

The investor group is led by a Sardinian native, Maurizio Fiori, who proposed the idea of building up the only major football club on the island.

“As a Sardinian who grew up attending every home game with my grandfather, I’m honoured to join Tommaso as a custodian of this cherished institution and help write the next page of its growth story,” said Fiori in an official statement.

Praxis Capital Management have acquired a qualified minority stake and the partnership is focused also on the construction of a new stadium to replace the abandoned Stadio Sant’Elia.

That project was given final approval earlier this month and should begin construction in 2026.

Meanwhile, President Giulini will retain full control and operational leadership of the club.

“Welcoming Maurizio and his investor group strengthens our future plans and affirms the global potential of our club,” said Giulini on the official website.

“Their investment, experience, and respect for our traditions make them ideal partners as we build for generations to come.”

There will be a formal presentation after the closing, subject to regulatory approvals.

Giulini has been President of Cagliari and majority shareholder since June 2014, when he bought out long-term patron Massimo Cellino.

He first presented a project to build a new stadium in December 2015, and it only got final approval in November 2025, hoping to have it ready as a host city for EURO 2032.
