Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson has confirmed that he will back new boss Wilfried Nancy during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Bhoys, who will return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table if they beat Hearts on Sunday, spent €15.1 million on new signings over the summer, however they lost key players such as Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn without landing adequate replacements.
As a result, the Hoops unsurprisingly endured a tricky start to the 2025-26 campaign and Brendan Rodgers officially resigned from his post as head coach in late October.
However, interim boss Martin O’Neill sparked a revival with seven wins in his eight matches in charge, and Nancy, who was appointed on 3 December, will be tasked with guiding Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title at the end of the season.
In a bid to help the 48-year-old achieve this, Nicholson has admitted that Celtic will look to dip into the transfer market in January.
“We want to develop the club and we want to perform,” the Celtic CEO revealed (via The Glasgow Times).
“And in order to do that, we’re all going to get behind Wilfried from today in the next coming days, the weeks and months, and in particular in the transfer windows ahead, both in January and into the summer.
“We’ll do everything we can to support Wilfried and his team and the players to deliver success for our supporters.”
Celtic to sign a new striker?
Celtic have been linked with a number of players over the past few weeks, although it appears as though they will prioritise signing a new centre forward in January after failing to finalise a deal for Kasper Dolberg over the summer.
Columbus Crew duo Diego Rossi and Wessam Abou Ali have both been tipped to follow Nancy to Celtic Park in 2026, while the Scottish giants are also understood to be interested in rekindling their pursuit of Cluj striker Louis Munteanu.
