Krösche dismisses talk of Toppmöller exit at Eintracht Frankfurt

Markus Krösche has made it clear that Dino Toppmöller’s job as Eintracht Frankfurt coach is not in danger.

Heading into Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-0 win over Augsburg on Saturday, reports suggested head coach Dino Toppmöller was under mounting pressure due to the club’s inconsistent performances this season.

However, Eintracht’s board member for sport, Markus Krösche, insists there are no plans to make a change at the coaching position.

Asked whether Toppmöller will remain Eintracht Frankfurt coach, Krösche told Sky:

“Why wouldn’t he? 

“So far, we’ve had a very successful path. For the first time in the club’s history, we qualified for the Champions League through the league. He works with the team. Of course, he’s also not happy when we don’t play good football.”

Krösche added that considering Eintracht’s young squad and the fact that they’re playing in the Champions League this season, fluctuations in performance are to be expected.

“In the end, that’s part of football. We’re having a challenging year with the Champions League and the double workload, and we have a young team,” he said.

“In terms of points, we have done okay in the Bundesliga; maybe we’re one or two points short, but we’re still close to the European spots. Naturally, you’d like faster development, but that’s something you have to accept.”
