The January transfer window is nearly here and several high-profile transfers are expected to take place next month.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 23 December, including the latest updates on Elliot Anderson and Nico Paz.
Elliot Anderson update
Elliot Anderson will not leave Nottingham Forest in January, despite significant transfer interest from Manchester United.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Man Utd for several months and reports speculate that he could cost as much as €120 million, with Sean Dyche’s side determined to maximise the potential transfer fee they could receive for his services.
The Red Devils have been touted to pursue a January deal for Anderson, although football transfer news expert David Ornstein has now ruled out a mid-season move.
Nico Paz to Real Madrid ‘confirmed’
Real Madrid officials believe that Nico Paz’s return to the club is now a done deal, according to reports in Spain.
The Argentina international left Los Blancos to join Como for a transfer fee of €6 million in 2024, but the Spanish giants opted to include a bargain buy-back clause in the deal and Paz is available to rejoin Real Madrid for €9m next summer.
In fact, Spanish publication Fichajes have confirmed that Real Madrid believe Paz will 100% return to the Bernabeu following the conclusion of the current campaign.
Kobbie Mainoo to stay at Man Utd
Manchester United will not allow Kobbie Mainoo to go out on loan following Bruno Fernandes suffering a hugely concerning injury against Aston Villa, according to a report.
While the full extent of Fernandes’ injury has yet to become clear, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes that it is out of the question that Man Utd will now allow Mainoo to leave the club on loan.
Napoli have been pushing hard for weeks to bring the midfielder in, but the injury to Fernandes, as well as players being away at the Africa Cup of Nations, means that a transfer appears highly unlikely.
Jeremy Monga to Chelsea?
Chelsea are reportedly pushing to beat Manchester City and Real Madrid to the signing of Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga.
Monga, an England U19 international, has already made 21 first-team appearances for Leicester and he has emerged as a key January transfer target for a number of top teams as per TEAMtalk.
It’s claimed that Chelsea and Man City are among the frontrunners for his signature next month, with both clubs viewing Monga as a future investment for their attack.
Ayyoub Bouaddi latest
Arsenal and Chelsea are chasing a deal for Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi, but a move to PSG is the most likely outcome, according to a report.
On Monday, reports surfaced claiming that Chelsea would look to launch a January bid for Bouaddi despite his extension. The Blues want to get ahead of the competition, chiefly Arsenal and Man Utd, but whether they will be successful is doubtful.
Indeed, according to TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd may all come away from this transfer race empty-handed. That is because PSG are deemed the teenager’s most likely destination.
