Lecce coach Di Francesco given 2-match ban for insults

Lecce coach Eusebio Di Francesco must sit out a two-match touchline ban in Serie A for insulting the referee, while Diego Carlos of Como is suspended.

The Disciplinary Commission has given its verdict following the conclusion of the Serie A Week 17 fixtures on Monday evening.

There is only one player suspended, as Como defender Diego Carlos accumulated enough yellow cards to trigger an automatic one-match ban.

However, Lecce coach Di Francesco has been hit with a two-game suspension from the touchline following his red card for dissent during the 3-0 home defeat to Como.

A statement provided by the fourth official confirmed that he had used ‘gravely insulting’ terms towards the referee, then continued his protest after the dismissal from the bench.

Elsewhere, AC Milan were fined €10,000 for delaying the start of the match by four minutes (a repeat offence), while Lecce were fined €8,000, Lazio €7,000, Fiorentina €5,000, Bologna €2,000 and Atalanta €1,500 for objects thrown onto the pitch by their supporters.
