Argentine set for West Ham transfer move

West Ham will sign Lazio striker Taty Castellanos in a deal worth £25 million from Serie A giants Lazio this week, as the Argentine flies in to London to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Hammers. The former New York City FC striker has caught the eye in Italy, and now the 27-year-old will move to the Premier League as he seeks to bolster his opportunities of representing Argentina at this summer’s World Cup.

With two caps to his name for Argentina, both of which were obtained in 2024, the Mendoza-born striker wants more international recognition and looks likely to move to England to fulfill a lifelong ambition of playing in the Premier League. The experienced striker has played in Chile, the USA, Spain on a loan spell with Girona and now Lazio, and a move to England is next.

West Ham owner David Sullivan is under fire and the club’s fans want him to sell, but instead the wealthy Englishman will bankroll a move for one of Serie A’s top strikers.

Last season Castellanos scored 10 goals in 29 Serie A games, but this season a lack of opportunities and a poor goalscoring return of two goals in 11 games means that the forward is free to leave.
