Ramy Bensebaini (Dortmund), Farès Chaïbi (Frankfurt), Ibrahim Maza (Leverkusen), and Mohamed Amoura (Wolfsburg) will return to their respective clubs after Algeria’s defeat to Nigeria in the quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations.
All four started the game for the two-time champions, but Nigeria were dominant from start to finish. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring early in the second-half before assisting fellow striker Akor Adams ten minutes later for a goal that sealed the win.
There is a possibility for the quartet to return to Bundesliga action in midweek on matchday 17. Nigeria will face Morocco in the semi-final as Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart) and Eliesse Ben Seghir (Leverkusen) hope to make the final on home soil.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande starts for Côte d’Ivoire in the last quarter-final against Egypt. TSG Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Touré will most likely feature for the Elephants off the bench since he has scored in back-to-back games as a supersub. The winners will face Nicolas Jackson’s Senegal in the other semi-final.
