VfB Stuttgart have confirmed that Leonidas Stergiou will play for 1. FC Heidenheim until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

The Bundesliga clubs have agreed to a loan for defender who is under contract with Stuttgart until June 30, 2028.

“Leo has proven his qualities many times in the VfB jersey and for the Swiss national team. He performs at a high technical and tactical level and can be deployed flexibly in defense.

“We wish Leo all the best and much success for the second half of the season,” said Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB Stuttgart’s sporting director.

Stergiou initially joined Stuttgart on loan from Swiss Super League club FC St. Gallen in the summer of 2023.

In the summer of 2024, the club from Cannstatt signed the six-time Swiss international permanently.

According to other recent reports, Heidenheim supposedly even fended off interest from FC Augsburg to sign the centre-half.
