Official | Inter fined €50,000 after Audero firework incident – Football Italia

Inter will have to pay a fine of €50,000 after one of their supporters threw a firework onto the pitch which struck Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero during Sunday’s Serie A match between the two sides, the league has confirmed. 

Inter punished for Audero firework incident

Inter’s 2-0 win away against Cremonese was interrupted shortly after the start of the second half when a firework was thrown onto the pitch from the area of the stands housing the travelling Nerazzurri supporters. 

The firework exploded right next to Cremonese goalkeeper Audero, who was later spotted with a small cut and burn mark above his knee. The stopper was eventually cleared to continue and decided to stay on the pitch. 

The individual responsible for throwing the firework onto the pitch was identified and arrested within 48 hours of the incident taking place. 

Inter officials and players apologised and strongly condemned the incident, but this was not enough to prevent a ban on away supporters for the next three Serie A matches. 

The Lega Serie A has also confirmed on Wednesday that the club will have to pay a fine of €50,000 as a result of the projectile being thrown onto the pitch. A statement from the league praises the Nerazzurri for their cooperation in identifying the individual and for their immediate condemnation of the incident. Inter have also been issued with a formal warning.
