Manchester United have absolutely no intention of renegotiating Barcelona‘s €30 million purchase option for Marcus Rashford, according to a reliable source.

The England international completed a dream move to Barcelona in the summer, joining the Catalans on an initial season-long loan. Rashford has been exceptional for the Blaugrana so far.

The 28-year-old has netted 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 games across all competitions, and these numbers naturally mean that Hansi Flick is desperate to keep him around beyond this season.

In theory, doing so seems fairly straightforward. Barcelona have a €30 million purchase option, which looks a steal considering that Rashford currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52.2m.

However, in practice, it is more complicated. Barcelona, of course, remain in a difficult position regarding LaLiga’s financial regulations, so this is a hefty outlay, especially in conjunction with Rashford’s sizeable wages.

Man Utd won’t lower Rashford price tag

As a result, it has been widely reported that Barcelona have already held initial talks with Man Utd in a bid to renegotiate the deal for Rashford. It has been posited that two possible options are being explored: a new loan or a reduced purchase fee.

However, Sky Sports has now delivered a quite emphatic response to these suggestions. The report states that Man Utd “are not and will not re-negotiate with Barcelona over the option fee for Marcus Rashford.”

No discussions are taking place to amend the deal, and sources at Man Utd insist the situation remains unchanged. Barcelona will therefore either have to cough up the money or walk away from the deal.

Rashford, though, has made it clear that he has no intention of looking for a different club or returning to Old Trafford. He is determined to stay in Catalunya, and even the arrival of Michael Carrick at Man Utd has not changed this stance.

Carrick, it is believed, would be open to reintegrating his former teammate into the Red Devils first team should he get the job on a permanent basis in the summer.
