Rumoured Arsenal target Ousmane Dembele has offered himself to Chelsea amid growing tension at PSG, according to a report.

The France international finds himself increasingly isolated at the Parc des Princes. Dembele is in contract talks with PSG, but they have so far not gone smoothly.

Club chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi publicly responded to claims that the 28-year-old is demanding an exorbitant wage by insisting that PSG’s salary cap and structure will not be altered, not even for a Ballon d’Or winner.

The fact that Dembele has struggled with fitness this season, which has affected his performances, does not help his case. At the weekend, after a 3-1 loss to Stade Rennais, the attacker hit out at his teammates for perceived selfishness.

This drew the ire of head coach Luis Enrique, who bluntly dismissed the assertion and described post-match comments from players as “worthless.” He seemingly took offence to the suggestion that he would allow members of his squad to put their own interests ahead of the club’s.

Dembele looking for a way out?

The growing speculation and uncertainty surrounding Dembele has given rise to transfer rumours, with Arsenal among the clubs associated with a potential move for the 28-year-old.

Fichajes now claims that Dembele is keen on a move to the Premier League and that he has even begun offering his services to clubs – but not to Arsenal. Instead, the Spanish publication states that the Frenchman has contacted Chelsea.

Dembele would jump at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge in what is being described as the potential “transfer of the century” by the report. His salary demands of €60 million per season have made an extension in Paris impossible.

However, Chelsea also have a rigid salary structure in place, which casts doubt on this report. The highest-paid player in West London is currently Reece James, with reported yearly earnings of just under €19m gross. This figure includes bonuses.

It scarcely needs stating that Chelsea will not give a player a salary of €60m. After all, not even Erling Haaland at Man City makes anywhere close to €60m per year!

Signing him would also require a hefty transfer fee. The report does not speculate how much Dembele would cost, but it acknowledges that a deal would require “meticulous financial engineering.”
