Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Tommy Setford on loan when the 2026 summer transfer window opens, FootballTransfers understands.
The England U21 international, who was born in the Netherlands, joined Mikel Arteta’s side from Ajax in 2024 and he has made two first-team appearances for the club, including against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup last weekend.
Setford is yet to be included in a Premier League matchday squad this season, with Kepa Arrizabalaga acting as the back-up option to David Raya, and sources have informed us that Nottingham Forest are now eyeing a potential summer loan deal.
We have been told that former Forest striker Pierre van Hooijdonk is acting as an intermediary for a possible transfer, with the 56-year-old now part of the PUM agency that represents Setford.
FootballTransfers also understands that a Nottingham Forest scout was in attendance to watch Setford’s cameo appearances versus Wigan last Saturday as the club continue their pursuit of his signature.
January signing Stefan Ortega has started Forest’s last three games in all competitions, but his short-term deal is due to expire this summer and the club have now earmarked Setford as a possible summer target.
Nottingham Forest eye Kenneth Taylor
In addition to Setford, Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing Netherlands midfielder Kenneth Taylor, who is represented by PUM too.
The 23-year-old left Ajax to join Lazio on a permanent deal for €16.9 million in January, but we have been told that Taylor is keeping his options open ahead of the summer window.
Taylor is primarily interested in joining a club in the Premier League, meaning Forest would need to avoid relegation to sign him, and he is a player with several admirers at the City Ground.
The Dutchman has started six consecutive Serie A matches since his arrival at Lazio, scoring once, and he will be hoping to be included in Ronald Koeman’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.
