Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi has clarified his international future, indicating he will remain committed to Germany after Italy failed to make contact regarding a potential switch.

“The rules allow it, and my phone is on. If Gattuso [Italian head coach] wants to talk to me, I would be very happy,” said Germany’s U21 international Nicolò Tresoldi in October 2025 about a possible change of association to Italy. However, that call never came, and the 21-year-old now appears firmly aligned with the German Football Association (DFB).

“Italy is Italy, but years ago I decided to play for Germany. They showed me a future, I immediately felt valued, even by the association. That’s important for a player,” Tresoldi said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Tresoldi has been part of Germany’s youth national team setup since the U19 level and has established himself as an important figure in the U21 squad. He has scored ten goals in 22 appearances for the team, underlining his reputation as one of Germany’s most promising young attacking talents.

“I think I’ve developed in all areas of my game and taken the next step,” Tresoldi recently explained in an interview with Transfermarkt.

With his club career on an upward trajectory and continued trust from Germany’s national team system, Tresoldi now appears focused on fulfilling his potential in German colors as he continues his rapid rise in European football.
