Corinthians wonderkid Breno Bidon has confirmed that he “dreams” of playing in Europe amid links with Arsenal and various other suitors.
The 21-year-old has been a standout performer for Corinthians for a couple of years now. Bidon, a versatile midfielder, has made north of a century of appearances for the Serie A club.
He produced several eye-catching performances last year, most notably in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final against Vasco da Gama. His showing won him many plaudits and confirmed to European scouts that he is potentially the next big thing to come out of Brazil.
Reports on Bidon’s future have been numerous and, at times, conflicting. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd have all been linked with him. The Gunners, in particular, have been strongly associated with a move for the youngster for months.
However, some reports have also claimed that, while Arsenal’s talks have been mostly exploratory, Chelsea have already made a concrete offer for Bidon. Whatever the case, it is clear that the Brazilian will be one of the protagonists of the summer transfer window.
Bidon confirms European dream
Corinthians refused to entertain bids for their gem in January, but they will find it difficult to keep hold of him when the European season ends and clubs will be fully focused on bolstering their rosters.
Bidon, for his part, has made no secret of his ambition to move across the pond in the near future. Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil, the 21-year-old has openly admitted that he “dreams” of moving to Europe.
“I do dream about playing in Europe,” he said. “It has been a dream since I was a kid to play in Europe, to play in the Champions League, to play in a World Cup. It has been a dream since I was young. I do have that desire. I do not know when the moment will come, but I do have that desire to play abroad.”
With the summer approaching, his dream could soon become reality, although it remains to be seen where he will end up. Arsenal and Chelsea will be the favourites, but with Jesse Lingard reportedly on the verge of joining Corinthians, the Englishman may put in a good word for Man Utd.
Corinthians, it is believed, could demand as much as €40 million for the midfielder this summer.
