Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard reportedly intends to sign a contract extension at the club, despite rumoured interest from numerous clubs across Europe.
The Norway international has been linked with a sensational move away from north London in recent weeks, with Inter Milan and Juventus among the clubs keeping tabs on his situation, but he has no intention of departing the Emirates Stadium.
Odegaard, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, has just over two years remaining on his existing contract with the Gunners, but he intends to finalise fresh terms with the club over the coming months, as per TEAMtalk.
Intermediaries have reportedly sounded out transfer interest in the 27-year-old, however rumours that Odegaard is looking to leave Arsenal have been emphatically dismissed.
The midfielder is keen to extend his current deal, while Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is also eager to reach an agreement with Odegaard as he looks to retain the services of his club captain.
The Norwegian has only started 13 Premier League matches so far this season due to a number of ongoing injury issues, but it’s understood that he remains fully committed to the Arsenal project and he reportedly has no intention of departing the club, despite interest from Italy.
Bayern Munich have also been credited with reported interest in Odegaard, although a move to the Allianz Stadium looks unlikely.
Analysis: Arsenal to extend Martin Odegaard’s contract?
In addition to finalising the signings of players such as Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal have also been keen to agree new contracts with their star players in recent months.
David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have all signed fresh deals since last summer, while FootballTransfers understands that talks are underway with Kai Havertz’s representatives too.
Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are also set to be rewarded with improved contracts, with Odegaard seemingly expected to follow suit as well.
