Agent: ‘Everyone’ would chase Pio Esposito if he were French or Argentinean

Mario Giuffredi, agent of Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito, confirms the Nerazzurri are unwilling to sell his client, but adds: ‘There’s a lack of vision in Italy. If he were Argentine or French, everyone would be chasing him.’

Pio Esposito scored a goal in his full Inter debut on Wednesday, allowing the Nerazzurri to secure a 2-0 victory over River Plate and qualify for the Club World Cup Round of 16 as group winners.

Inter have been linked with Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund, but according to reports in Italy, the Nerazzurri won’t pursue a deal for the Dane, opting to keep Pio Esposito in the team.

The striker’s agent confirmed in an interview with Il Mattino that the Nerazzurri are not planning to sell the 19-year-old forward.

Agent confirms Inter won’t sell Pio Esposito

“Inter believe in him and won’t sell him for €25m or any fee,” he said via Calciomercato.com.

“There’s a lack of vision in Italy. What’s wrong with saying it? If he were Argentine or French, everyone would be chasing him.”

Pio Esposito has just returned to the Stadio Meazza after a two-season loan spell at Spezia, where he scored 22 goals in 79 appearances across all competitions.

“He has extended until 2030, and everyone expects him to see him as a protagonist with the Nerazzurri shirt,” his agent continued.

Esposito a new striker for Italy?

“I have no doubts, and the same goes for his brothers, to whom he’s very attached.”

Esposito has scored seven goals in 11 appearances with Italy U21, would he be ready to make a further step forward and play at a senior level too?

“Gattuso has courage,” said the striker’s agent.

“If he thinks Pio is ready for Italy, he would certainly not look at his age.”
