Alejandro Garnacho returns to Man United bench for Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham after being dropped for derby win at City as Marcus Rashford misses out again

Alejandro Garnacho has returned to Ruben Amorim‘s matchday squad after being omitted against Man City on Sunday.

The Argentine is included on the bench for Man United‘s away Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham on Thursday night.

Amorim cited Garnacho’s training performance as the reason behind his selection.

‘He is prepared to play the game, I really like the way he trained. It’s one more option for the offence,’ the Portuguese manager told Sky Sports.

Captain Bruno Fernandes and Antony start in the No 10 positions behind in-form Rasmus Hojlund. 

However, United wantaway Marcus Rashford has been once again been axed from the squad, not even travelling with the group to north London.

The Red Devils, who take on Spurs in a crucial quarter-final after triumphing 2-1 over rivals Manchester City on Sunday, are set to be without their highest earner again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They are replaced by Victor Lindelof and £52million summer signing Leny Yoro, who play alongside Lisandro Martinez at centre back.

On the flanks, Noussair Mazraoui will start at right wing back, joined by Diogo Dalot on the opposite wing.

Christian Eriksen and Manuel Ugarte start in the centre of United’s midfield, with Kobbie Mainoo also earning a rest.

A win against Ange Postecoglou’s side would send the Red Devils into the final four of the Carabao Cup.
