The former Liverpool right-back has paid tribute to Diogo Jota outside of Anfield on Monday evening
Trent Alexander-Arnold has written an emotional message for Diogo Jota at Anfield ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday night. Alexander-Arnold is back on Merseyside for the first time since his former teammate’s tragic death in July.
The much-loved player tragically lost his life in a road accident at just 28. Tributes poured in from around the world for Jota and his family.
Alexander-Arnold has now stepped forward to pay his respects, laying flowers outside of Anfield. He was joined by Real Madrid’s manager Xabi Alonso, Dean Huijsen and Emilio Butragueno. He also left a touching letter, which read: “My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Yours and Andre’s memory will always live on.

“I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared. Miss you mate, every day. Forever 20, YNWA. Love, Trent and family.”
Earlier in the summer, the right-back posted a tribute message on social media.
“It’s so difficult to find the right words when your head and heart are struggling to accept that someone you care so much about has gone,” it read.
“Diogo, your family was your world. They were everything. For Rute, his children, and his parents, all of our hearts are broken. And for Andre as well.
“Brothers and best friends. When it’s less painful, I want to remember Diogo with a big smile.
“So many laughs and happy moments. He was such a great teammate and a true friend. Forever number 20.
“Rest in peace, Diogo.”
Alexander-Arnold spent five seasons alongside Jota on Merseyside before joining Real when his contract expired in May, ending a 21-year association with the club.
