Alisson Santos has impressed so much at Napoli that Carlo Ancelotti has sent Brazil scouts to watch him ahead of the World Cup, but the club hasn’t yet decided to purchase him from Sporting CP.

The wide attacker arrived in the January transfer window, on loan for six months at a cost of €3.5m, with an option to buy him outright at the end of the season for a further €16m.

So far, the 23-year-old has only made five competitive appearances in the Napoli jersey, yet contributed two decisive goals in the 2-2 draw with Roma and 2-1 victory over Torino.

Spanish newspaper AS and Tuttomercatoweb maintain this caught the eye of Brazil boss Ancelotti, who sent some of his staff to watch the 23-year-old in action.

Following the serious injury that ruled Real Madrid star Rodrygo out of the 2026 World Cup, a slot has opened up for a player with similar characteristics.

However, Alisson Santos has apparently not yet won everyone over at Napoli, because transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano notes that so far they have not yet contacted his agent or Sporting CP to confirm whether the option to buy will be activated.

So much will depend on whether they manage to qualify for the Champions League next season, as they currently sit in third place in Serie A.
