Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted frustration after his side’s 0-0 draw with Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, lamenting the missed opportunities that cost them three points.

It was the Italian’s first game back at the Allianz Stadium since his departure from Juventus in 2024. Milan had lots of opportunities to secure a vital three points but were poor in their finishing. American forward Christian Pulisic blazed the ball over the bar from a second-half penalty kick, epitomising the Rossoneri’s woes in front of goal.

Despite this, Milan still remain unbeaten since their opening game loss to Cremonese and look to build on resolute defensive performances as they chase their Scudetto dream.

Speaking to DAZN, with quotes via MilanNews, Allegri said:

“I didn’t even see how Pulisic took the penalty… penalties get missed. We played a balanced first half – they closed spaces well and we moved the ball too slowly.

“In the second half we grew physically, created chances, but when we had Juventus in our hands, we needed more ruthlessness. The positive is that we didn’t concede but at certain moments you have to kill the game.”

Allegri on Leao chances & return to Turin

Asked about Rafael Leao’s missed chances, Allegri explained:

“He’s been out for 45 days, so he’s still finding rhythm. Last week he came on out of necessity and did well. He’s worked hard this week – we need him back quickly. He and Nkunku are technical players who can solve matches.”

He continued on Leao, discussing the Portuguese forward’s abilities in front of goal:

“He played as a striker at Lille, so it’s not new to him. His movement on Modric’s pass was perfect but a player like him, with two chances like that, must score.

“He has genius, but now he must learn to determine matches – that’s what makes him decisive.”

The coach also reflected on his emotional return to Turin:

“It was emotional. I saw so many people I worked with, people who supported me for eight years. I’m grateful but now I’m at Milan and we have a lot of work to do. We take this point, but when it’s time to bite, we must bite.”

Finally, on Santiago Gimenez’s performance:

“He played well, moved well on the penalty action. He works so much for the team, that’s important. I thought bringing in fresh players like Pulisic could change things. Despite the missed penalty, he played an extraordinary match.”
