Manchester United star Amad has underlined the importance of Michael Carrick following the Red Devils’ impressive upturn. The former midfielder was handed the reins after the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
He has signed a deal until the end of the campaign, albeit there have been calls for Carrick to be handed the job permanently following a run of four wins and a draw in five games. That has seen United rise into the Champions League places.
Winger Amad has now shared his take on Carrick and has given him a glowing reference. Speaking on the Inside Carrington podcast, he said: “I think having Michael Carrick as head coach in the team is very important because he knows the club.
“He’s the main man who can tell us [about] the club we are playing for. Before the games he keeps telling us: you guys, you are playing for yourself, but you’re playing also for the fans, and he’s telling us the fans are very important for us.
“We are also playing for the fans because we want to win and we want to give them something back.

“Having Carrick is very enjoyable and we enjoy the training. He’s a nice guy. He talks with everyone and I’m so lucky because I know him already – he was here when I arrived, when I was 18.
“I also played against him when he was in the Championship, so I know him since a long time and he’s a nice guy.”
Elsewhere, Amad has also shared his thoughts on the return of Jonny Evans, who has rejoined the club as a member of Carrick’s coaching team. The Ivorian believes that his knowledge of the club has proven to be priceless.

He added: “It’s very important as a player to have people around who know the club, who know exactly what this club means for them. They keep telling us what it really means, so that is very important.
“And when we go to the pitch we want to fight for them. So that’s important to have people like this.”
United will be aiming to continue their eye-catching turnaround next Monday as they travel to Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton. The Red Devils could potentially reduce the gap between themselves and third-placed Aston Villa to just two points with a victory.
