Manchester United‘s higher-ups have given Ruben Amorim carte blanche to deal with the Marcus Rashford situation as he sees fit, according to a report.

The Portuguese head coach has been raising eyebrows over the past few days. Amorim shockingly omitted Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the Manchester Derby two weeks ago, citing the pair’s training performances as the reason behind his decision.

However, while Garnacho was eventually brought back into the fold, Rashford has not been seen on the pitch since. The 27-year-old did not make the matchday squads against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup or the home clash with Bournemouth on Sunday, both of which Man Utd lost.

What’s more, just a day after his initial omission, Rashford came out with a bombshell interview in which he revealed that he is ready for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

Speculation surrounding his future has been rampant and FootballTransfers understands that Barcelona’s interest has been piqued by the situation, though currently have different problems that they need to sort out first.

Amorim given carte blanche

Regarding Rashford’s future, The Times reports that Amorim has been given complete freedom to act as he sees fit. Man Utd’s hands-on club hierarchy, led by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will not interfere in the matter, it is claimed.

This is despite the fact that the INEOS chief effectively sacked sporting director Dan Ashworth just five months into the job after being unimpressed by his work. On the matter of Rashford, however, he will refrain from getting involved.

Ratcliffe is aware that Rashford’s continued absence could cause ‘potential damage’ but the decision over how to proceed will rest squarely at the feet of head coach Amorim.

Man Utd are open to offloading Rashford, but Amorim previously claimed that they are a better team with him, so it will be interesting to see how the 39-year-old will act going forward.
