Ruben Amorim has decided that Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford does not fit into his plans and is, therefore, on the transfer list.

Despite being one of the most recognisable players at the Old Trafford club, where he came through the academy to break into the first team and make over 420 appearances over eight years, Rashford is set to be one of the first major casualties of the Amorim era, Fichajes reports.

And this is despite scoring the opening goal of the Portuguese head coach’s era in charge of the Red Devils as he netted within seconds of the kick-off against Ipswich Town.

Rashford, however, has had a recent history of ill-discipline, with the England striker falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag on several occasions.

Marcus Rashford: A move to the Saudi Pro League?

Despite starting both of Amorim’s matches to date, Rashford continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with the old rumour linking him with a move to PSG once again circulating.

While it is doubtful that there is any serious substance behind this given that Les Parisiens already have an accomplished left winger in the form of Bradley Barcola, the latest reports indicate that the new head coach is pushing Rashford out the door.

Fichajes suggests that a move to the Saudi Pro League, where former Man Utd legend Cristiano Ronaldo is currently plying his trade, is a possibility.

“The clubs in the Arab kingdom have shown a great ability to attract established stars, and Rashford could find there a place to revitalise his career, accompanied by an attractive contract,” it states.

Square peg in a round hole

Rashford does indeed seem ill-suited for Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford, with the new coach set to field a 3-4-3 formation in which he will struggle to find a natural role.

Bruno Fernandes seems to have locked in one of the positions at inside forward while Rashford is set to battle with Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo for the other role, with Rasmus Hojlund expected to be Amorim’s centre-forward until at least the end of the season.

All this adds up to suggest that sooner or later, the England attacker will be on his way out of Manchester United for the first time in his career.
