Amorim picks his next striker: Man Utd prepare €50m bid

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €50 million offer for Palmeiras star Vitor Roque amid their pursuit of a new centre forward.

The Red Devils added RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko to their ranks this summer, however he has only scored two goals in 11 appearances since his move to Old Trafford and Ruben Amorim’s side are eager to land an alternative option.

Joshua Zirkzee has barely featured at all so far this campaign, after falling out of favour under Amorim, and he is determined to leave the club in January in order to improve his chances of being selected for the 2026 World Cup by Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman.

Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham United are among the clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old during the mid-season window, however Man Utd are reluctant to sanction a sale unless they are able to identify a suitable replacement.

Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick has been touted as a potential option, while Roque has now been earmarked as a legitimate target by the Red Devils.

Vitor Roque to Man Utd?

Roque endured a tough spell at Barcelona following his arrival in January 2024, scoring just two goals in 16 games, but he has rediscovered his best form since moving to Palmeiras earlier this year and he has been tipped to secure a return to Europe in 2026.

Several Premier League clubs are understood to be monitoring his development in Brazil and Man Utd are now prepared to submit a €50m bid for the 20-year-old.

That is according to Spanish publication Sport, who claim that Man Utd are closely watching Roque ahead of a potential move next year.

It’s understood that Roque is eager to remain at Palmeiras until at least next summer, but he is open to leaving the club if a suitable offer arrives.

He has scored 17 goals in 50 appearances since joining Palmeiras in February and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €24.9m.
