Ruben Amorim is ready to offload four Manchester United players as early as January, according to a sensational report.

The Portuguese tactician is set to take the reins at Man Utd shortly. While the Red Devils had initially hoped to have him on the sideline already for the weekend’s clash with Chelsea, it seems that they will have to show a bit more patience.

Nevertheless, Amorim is fully expected to be Man Utd’s new head coach going forward, with the club having already informed Sporting CP of their intention to pay the €10 million compensation fee required to prise him away from Lisbon.

As a result of the news of Amorim’s impending appointment, transfer rumours have proliferated. Given that Sporting are one of Europe’s most prolific producers of talent, it is little wonder that the 39-year-old could look to bring several players with him to Manchester.

But of course, there is already an existing squad at Old Trafford and Amorim will also have to make some big calls regarding the current crop of players.

Amorim to axe four…in January?

Accordingly, TEAMtalk claims that Amorim already knows which players will not feature in his Man Utd project. It is asserted that Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Victor Lindelof and Antony will not have a place in his side.

In fact, the outlet goes so far as to suggest that they could be sold as early as January. Lindelof and Eriksen are out of contract in the summer, so a winter sale to receive at least a nominal fee would make sense even if the latter has arguably been Man Utd’s best midfielder this season.

Additionally, Man Utd’s INEOS bosses and Amorim are said to be in agreement that Casemiro and Antony are underperforming given the money they are on and that they ought to be offloaded as soon as possible.

Previous manager Erik ten Hag had been one of Antony’s biggest backers – much to the dismay of the rest of the squad – but the Brazilian now faces the chopping block with his former Ajax boss gone.
