Robertson, who has just returned from an extended period on the sidelines with injury, revealed he was caught blindsided by the announcement.
The Scot said: “Like the rest of the world it was a bit of a shock when he told us all nobody really knew where to look or what to do but you have to respect his decision, he’s thought long and hard about it, he’s not a rash person he’s obviously thought a lot about it with his family.
“For what he’s done for this club we’ll all be forever grateful and I think yeah he doesn’t want the fans signing his song but I think he’s going to lose that battle unfortunately!
“The fans always want to say a proper goodbye to him but for us players the one thing he asked from us is that it has to be business as usual, we have to keep fighting on all fronts we have to keep trying to keep winning games and hopefully that results in giving him a send off that he truly deserves.”
Robertson has spent a large part of this season on the sidelines with a shoulder injury picked up in October
Jones revealed his sadness about Klopp leaving but insisted nothing has changed in regards to the team’s goals
His teammate Jones, who scored in the win over Norwich, reiterated Robertson’s words and said the focus now is on the rest of the season.
Jones insisted Liverpool need to: “Just carry on, we have our goals that we’ve set so nothing has changed, of course its sad for the whole of the club but he is a man and thats his choice so we respect that and just go with the flow.”
It comes before a tough run of fixtures for the Reds as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face a Chelsea side growing in confidence before hosting title rivals Arsenal at Anfield.
