Anselmino receives Kovač’s praise: “He really does very well when he plays”

The BVB coach is clearly happy with what he has seen from the 20-year-old centre-half.

Aaron Anselmino was subjected to high praise from coach Niko Kovač in his press conference before facing Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. 

“He really does very well when he plays. He had a bit of bad luck; after his really very good debut, he had a few problems.

“He needed a little time, but you can rely on that young man from the first minute to the last. A great lad, but also a great defender,” said Kovač.

BVB don’t have a purchase option for the Argentine defender on loan from Chelsea, but Kovač feels he is improving in Westphalia. 

“I think everything is settled with Chelsea. He’s our player, and I expect him to remain with us until the end of the season.

“I would like that to happen because I think it’s clear he’s getting the minutes he needs here, which he didn’t get at Chelsea,” he added.
