Napoli boss Antonio Conte was left frustrated after missing out on the signature of Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Garnacho was heavily linked with an exit during the winter transfer window, and Conte personally spoke to the Argentine regarding Napoli’s project.
However, a transfer did not materialise in the end due to differences over the price tag. Napoli were willing to pay €55m, but United wanted at least €80m.
It is now reported that Conte was left fuming by the club’s decision to land Noah Okafor on loan from AC Milan before the transfer deadline.
The Italian tactician urged the hierarchy to make an improved offer for Garnacho, but they decided against renewing talks with the Red Devils.
Garnacho continues to remain on Napoli’s radar and the Serie A giants could come up with a fresh proposal for his services in the summer.
The 20-year-old was happy to continue with the Red Devils this winter, but could re-assess his future at the club depend on playing time.
