Arne Slot has revealed that he twice invited Jurgen Klopp to matches at Anfield and says the former Liverpool manager is welcome to visit the Reds training ground whenever he likes.
Klopp has not been back to Merseyside since quitting the club last season and his absence has allowed Slot to enjoy a fine debut season without distraction.
It means Slot has avoided the issues Manchester United managers have faced with the cameras often focused on Sir Alex Ferguson in the stands at Old Trafford.
But the Dutchman, who takes his Premier League leaders to Manchester City tomorrow, says he’d have no issue with his predecessor — now global head of soccer at Red Bull — coming back to the club.
‘I invited him to the City and Real home games but he told me he was somewhere else in the world,’ confirmed Slot.
‘He can come here any time he wants, to the games or even to this building (at the training ground in Kirkby).

Klopp won everything there is to win with Liverpool, including a sixth Champions League title

The German is now global head of soccer at Red Bull after stepping away from management
‘For me, he is more than welcome. In the first half of the season he was enjoying life, with his wife, and at this moment he has a job to do.’
Slot took over at Anfield at the end of last season, taking the reins from Klopp after a glittering nine-season spell on Merseyside.
Inheriting a strong squad left by the German, Liverpool have not shown any side of dropping off under Slot, with the Reds in the midst of a stunning title charge in his debut season.
They sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and will go into tomorrow’s clash at the Etihad with ambitions of extending that gap to 11 points, hoping to capitalise on Arsenal’s shock defeat to West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds are also staring down the barrel of a Carabao Cup final against Newcastle as well as a mammoth Champions League last 16 bout against Paris Saint-Germain, having emerged as tournament favourites after topping the league phase.
