Arsenal and Liverpool get Premier League points tally prediction amid title race

Liverpool suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday and it means the Reds have conceded top spot in the Premier League to Arsenal after their victory over West Ham United

Arsenal have been predicted to win the Premier League by two points after Liverpool’s latest slip-up. Arne Slot’s title aspirations suffered an early blow after their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Arsenal now proudly sit top of the table after a 2-0 victory over West Ham United heading into the October international break. Liverpool are just behind on 15 points after their second cosecutive league loss.

There will be a two-week pause before Liverpool return to league action, with a clash against Manchester United scheduled for Sunday, October 19. Slot’s side could find themselves trailing the leaders by four points when they take to the pitch at Anfield, as Arsenal visit Fulham a day earlier.

Following a dispiriting weekend for Liverpool, Opta Analyst has attempted to forecast the final Premier League standings. The website has analysed the data and predicts that Arsenal will clinch the title this season, ahead of Arne Slot’s side.

The forecast sees the Gunners topping the table with 77 points (77.04), ahead of Liverpool, who are predicted to finish second with 75 points (74.99). Manchester City are next in the projected table with a final points tally of 68 (67.6).

Crystal Palace are sensationally being tipped to secure fourth place with 63 (63.17) points after their bright start to the season. Oliver Glasner’s men are currently seventh, just four points off the pace.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are hot on their tail in fifth place with 61 (61.43) points. This could earn them a Champions League spot based on the English coefficient in UEFA’s rankings.

Arsenal are tipped as the favourites to clinch the Premier League title, according to the prediction model, boasting a 44.23% chance of victory. The Reds, meanwhile, trail with a 32.17 per cent probability.

Liverpool have endured a difficult recent spell with three defeats across all competitions which included a Champions League setback against Galatasaray after defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Liverpool will be keen to return to winning ways following the break and after such a disappointing last seven days. Recent results have seen Slot come in for some fierce criticism, and things aren’t going to get any easier for the Dutchman.

After a fierce fixture at home to Manchester United, a further three matches at Anfield are on the horizon against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Real Madrid, but those come after tough tests away to Frankfurt and Brentford.

As for Arsenal, trips to Sunderland and Burnley follow their clash at Craven Cottage with a run of three consecutive home games against Atletico Madrid, Crystal Palace and Brighton.
