Arsenal could have the upper hand over Chelsea in the race to sign Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato this summer.

The Dutch international is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs, and he has been tipped to pursue a bigger challenge.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have made calls to the player’s representative, but they are yet to make any formal proposals for him.

Despite this, there are suggestions that the Gunners could have an edge over the Blues, considering their progress made lately.

Arsenal have finished runners-up in the league for three seasons on the trot and they will aim to go all the way next term.

Furthermore, the presence of former Ajax star Jurrien Timber could be another big advantage for Arsenal in the race.

Hato has repeatedly said that he would like to follow the path of Timber in his career. The Arsenal man is an idol to the 19-year-old.
